My New Appreciation

Henley is now 3 weeks old, and I have new appreciation for...

Target and Babies’r us gift cards because our well-fed daughter needs about 10-14 diapers a day. No, that’s not a typo.
Getting a total of 4 hours of sleep as opposed to 0-2, and those 2 o’clock feedings because that is when life is so peaceful with my new baby girl ...

Justin’s arrival from work… Not that I didn’t appreciate this time before, but now I really appreciate it. She is already a Daddy’s girl.
My larger, stretchy tank tops and T-shirts that fit my now plentiful abundance.
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays because our Sunday school class brings us very delicious meals.
Long, warm showers
The Doctor recommended pacifier, which has allowed 2-3 hours between feedings instead of every hour. She doesn’t seem to mind suckling it, and I’m pretty sure there is no “nipple confusion.”
Mylicon Drops because much to our dismay she has inherited her parent’s bowel dysfunctions.
The times Henley is awake and alert, but not fussy. She is so sweet, just soaking in all the new sights and smells. Apparently, Henley smells something foul in this picture.
My Little Chick
Henley’s puffy little fingers and toes.
The "Milky Mouth"
All mothers and fathers…Being a parent has really given me a new outlook, and I never imagined I could love this much.

Awww, Casey! She is so pretty! I want to come and see her tomorrow!!! I love all the pictures, she is too sweet! I really see the both of you in her. Is that her "beret" that Justin and the waiter at the restaurant made fun of? I think it is cute! So girly...you are going to have so much fun dressing her! Glad you posted new pics...Stella was little bitty wasn't she! Can't wait to see her too!

Henley is so cute! I can't believe she is already 3 weeks old. And you are right, you really grow to appreciate the little things (and sometimes weird things too) in life when you become a parent!!

I cannot get over how much she looks like Justin. However, babies change in their looks week to week. I fully expect her to look like you soon. I am thrilled you guys are coming in October. Can't wait. Your sister's poem was so sweet.

Such sweet pictures! I can definitely identify with your new found appreciations . . I'm holding up fine, but I've never known this level of exhaustion! She's only fussy when she's hungry, but last night that seemed to be every hour or so . . And are hormones playing with your body temp? I'm freezing one minute and sweating bullets the next! But looking at her sweet little face seems to make up for all the other craziness. She's starting to be awake a little more and she just looks around with the sweetest expression. By the way - we have the same bouncy seat you do! Glad you guys are doing well . . send me your e-mail address whenever you get a chance at aprilmattison@yahoo.com. I'd love to keep up with how you and Henley are doing.
