Only 12 more days, but who's counting...

By 12 days, I mean until my actual due date. Last week, the doctor seemed to think the baby could come at any time. Yesterday was my last day of work, so I'm just tying up some loose ends- mostly boring stuff- short term disability, cleaning, washing clothes, etc. To be honest, I really don't know what to do with myself now that I am off. I've been packing my "hospital bag" for about 2 weeks now, and I'm blocked for some reason. I think the bag is a symbol of what is to come. I'm so excited, yet very anxious at the same time. I thought I would ask my fellow, experienced bloggers for some advice. Was there anything you didn't pack that you wished you had or something that you couldn't live without? Also, I'm downloading some songs on my ipod for the whole labor time to keep me distracted.
Any suggestions?

A new addition to the nursery

A big thanks to a wonderful artist Vikki Bible- it's pretty nice to have such talented friends! Check out her other pieces...

Casey - glad to see an update...I've been checking a lot recently because I know you're almost there! We're going to be at the beach until the 20th (which is a great day to have a baby...my 30th), so please make sure to post (or have Justin post) as soon as Henley arrives. As far as packing...with Ethan, I overpacked. With Nina, I took just what I needed. Make sure you take slippers to walk around the hospital. My old school mother wanted me in matching gown and robe...I wanted to be comfortable! So I was in a t-shirt and yoga pants (with a cute robe over)! I would just make sure you take comfy clothes and ones with easy access for nursing. Just make sure you have Henley's baby book (for footprints) and your cameras...anything else someone can bring you if you need it! Song suggestions for the iPod - John Mayer for something mellow and feel good and of course you can't go wrong with Buffet! Once you get home and settled, I'd love to come visit and bring you guys dinner! Good luck and I'll be thinking about you - you will be fine....it's easy!!

I LOVE the painting!!! I think that is an awesome addition to the room and is definitely a painting that she can have for years. Great job Vicki!

That painting is awesome! I would love to find some cool artwork for Mckinley's room. I wish you lived nearby so we could hang out and count down the days together! I still have almost 4 weeks officially, but ever since my dr said she didn't think I would make it until then I feel like it could be any day - I walk around thinking, is today the day? Enjoy your last few days and try to pamper yourself! Sleep in, get a pedicure, do something for just you! Good luck and I can't wait to see Miss Henley! Oh and by the way - my sister-in-law just gave me a bunch of yummy travel size Bliss bath and shower products. She said the first shower after delivery is just heaven and it's nice to have good products to use.

Wow! I can't believe it's finally here. Everything is going to be great. I totally suggest pampering yourself and sleeping while you can. I agree that you should pack comfy pj's and slippers. Post an update as soon as Henley arrives. We will be praying for you.

I worked until the day before I had Sophie for this very reason. I knew that if I had time on my hands I would go a little crazy! Hang in there b/c it becomes such a blur from here on out.
I forgot to take a maternity/nursing bra with me to the hospital and that was a big regret. Make sure you ask the nursery nurses for pure lanolin!! That's a must if you plan to brestfeed!! Especially for us redheads!!
Good luck Casey! I'll be thinking about you!

Wow, I can't believe you only have 12 days left! That is so exciting!
I packed Matt and myself (for later) a goodie bag. Like snack type food so Matt wouldn't have to leave. Some bottled water and some soda pop (for Matt). I suggest gum too! Good idea to pack comfy clothing and easy access to nurse (like those nursing tanks or nursing nightgowns.) Also don't forget your slippers since you will be making lots of trips to the bathroom. We also packed some movies (VHS) b/c after my epidural I was pretty relaxed and watching a funny movie kind of took my mind off labor. Hope that helps!

Don't worry - you'll quickly forget about anything you forgot as soon as you have your baby to stare at! Good luck!

I really didn't use a thing in my bag! I had a c-section and they wouldn't let me take a shower until my cath was out. I pretty much stayed in my hospital gown and didn't even think about putting make-up on. I did like having my own pillow and I brought a boppy which I liked except it was hard to fit around my belly which was still huge! I also loved having my own baby blankets for Will. I can't believe you only have 12 more days. I hope they go by quickly. They were tortuous for me! I was a day late though. Make sure you bring your bag to every appointment b/c you never know when they will send you to check in to the hospital. Good luck and prayers are being lifted up for a safe delivery and healthy baby.

How exciting....your own pillow is a must-much cozier than the hospital ones. Have a basket of candy for visitors and nurses. The nurses seem to come by and take care of you more often when there are goodies to share with them :)

Can't wait to meet Henley.

I've been meaning to call you to come by and see the nursery. Can I come this week?

I took my own pillow, ipod, shower stuff, and my laptop so that I could download pics and send them out. I know, who has time for that, right? But, I found a few minutes to do it, and I was so glad I did.

I took a portable speaker for my ipod and set that up in the bath. I, too, had a c section and by the time I got a shower, it had been quite a few days. It was really the BEST shower I've ever had. I had Seth hold him and listened to my music and just relaxed in there for a long time!!! It might be your last super LONG shower for awhile, so enjoy!

I can't think of anything else right now. Thinking about you right now and can't wait!

casey! it's right around the corner! are you getting nervous yet? i remember getting so panicked towards the end and thinking, "i just wish it didn't have to ever come out!" you are going to be a great mom and i am so excited for you and justin. i wish you would answer your phone, you big dork--i'm tired of, "hi, this is casey, please leave a message..." but i love you anyway!

I know you're already at the hospital but I meant to leave this earlier. The snacks thing is a must (mostly for the husband) Kevin got a migraine from not eating and ended up putting my ice pack pad on his head. It made for a nice picture.

We're thinking about you today. I'll say some prayers for a safe and easy delivery. Love you!
