Can it get much better?

Well, I've been told it can- talking, walking, etc. This is Henley's latest trick, and she does it right after projectile pooping and right before spitting up all over the place. Can you imagine cracking that smile after all that? Everyday, I'm amazed at how much she changes and grows. I feel so blessed that we have such a healthy, happy baby.

I tried to get a sweet 6th week picture, but ended in defeat. This was the best of the lot, so I'll try again at 2 months.

She was 6 weeks yesterday, and it has been a whirlwind. Time goes by so fast. I'm actually supposed to go back to work on Monday, but I'm taking a few weeks with no pay. I have to ask the question- how do women actually go back at 6 weeks? She is still so small and not sleeping through the night. But honestly, I'm just not ready to pass her off to anyone let alone a stranger. The US is way behind in this department, and if we lived in Europe we could get 6 or more MONTHS! Does this bother anyone else?

Yes, it is ridiculous that there is only 12 week leave and with most companies no pay. I think it is in Sweden or somewhere like that, they get a year with PAY! Beautiful new pictures! She is so pretty! Talk to you soon!

Casey,
Oh my, how adorable is Henley, she is perfect !
I agree with you about the maternity leave, in England we have 9 months off (paid).
Enjoy every moment you have with your precious daughter.

that is the biggest smile i have ever seen! i love henley's sweet little dress in her 6 week pic. it's impossible to get good ones by yourself when they are so little. and yes, going back to work is so hard. i hated dropping lilly off at daycare, but after a while, she got attached to the ladies there and i felt ok about leaving her. they loved her and were great with her and you'll actually enjoy the break and adult interaction! it'll make you even crazier about her when you get to be with her--i can remember driving like a maniac to get to pick her up after work--i couldn't get there fast enough and it's the best feeling when you finally have them in your arms at the end of the day! i'm so glad you're able to take more time--you'll never regret it! take all the time you can--they get big so fast. love you!

Henly is so sweet! I can't believe she is already 6 weeks old!! Time does fly! You are right, the US is way behind! We need more than just 6 weeks off with our new bundles of joy. It is sad that many people have to go back to work that soon! Enjoy the next couple of weeks with her and good luck returning to work! Who is going to keep her while you guys are working?

Love that picture of her smiling...I mean how cute is she:) I totally agree with you on the maternity leave. Who came up with 6 weeks maternity leave? It should definitely be 9months to 1 year!

Going back to work is so hard. And people told me that I would eventually appreciate the break. While that is true sometimes, I stil cry from time to time when I drop Sophie off in the mornings. And I hate to tell you that is actually gets harder once they cry and cling to you!! :( Good luck. You'll be fine, hang in there.

I love that smile! She is too cute and I love how she color coordinates with her background. Lyd told me to tell you to tell Henley thanks for a great dinner last night. She hopes to have many more Henley dates in Chattanooga!

I can't believe Henley is 6 weeks old...I've got to get over to see you guys! I would have taken more time off without pay too - it's a hard decision to make..staying home or going back to work. You'll be fine after awhile, and so will Henley. I agree that the US is behind - and not just on maternity leave. I hope to see you soon!

What a great smile!! She's getting so big! I can't imagine having to go back to an office . . I've started working from home again and that's tough enough. As soon as I get started on something, Mckinley decides all she wants is to be held! It's like she has a productivity sensor . . as soon as I become remotely productive it's time for attention from mommy! I'm such a long, long way from becoming the super-mom of my dreams . .

i love that photo! i'm so excited about meeting little henley! i can't wait for stella to start smiling. i'm glad you're getting to stay home longer. and yes, it is very frustrating that the US is so terrible about maternity leave. my sister-in-law in greece gets 18 months paid! there's only a few other countries as bad as the US.

She is really so cute Casey! I wish that I could see her in person....xmas :o) In Germany mom's get 1 year of maternity leave and the employer is required to hold your job for 3 years. Some hold it up to 5!!!! Crazy!!

Casey - It's good to hear that you are going through some of the same things. As for the jeans, I splurged on one pair of designer maternity jeans and as long as I have a longer, loose top on you really can't tell they're maternity . . so I've been wearing those everywhere. So far I have refused to buy anything in a bigger size, so that just leaves maternity clothes. Good thing that look is in this year! And as for the house, I would be mortified if anyone came over right this minute. I try to clean up a little each night when Trent is home and can watch Mckinley, but he's traveling this week, so no break today!
